Jackie Mbabazi Mugabo who is also a gospel artist is known for her charity work that supported the government of Rwanda in the famous Bye Bye Nyakasti campaign that aimed to remove all grass thatched homes in Rwanda back in 2010. The campaign began in Rilima sector, Bugesera District at the time.

In 2018 the charity organisation supported vulnerable women who survived the Genocide against the Tutsi living in Kinyinya village by providing tailoring skills and giving them capital to start income generating activities. The organisation has also been providing food stuffs to vulnerable people in hospitals such as Gatagara, Kibagabaga and Muhima referral hospitals.

“We as christians are called by God to lend a helping hand to those in need, and that is what we have been doing since 2010 by supporting our government through extending a helping hand to vulnerable women and children” Jackie said.

This year, Jackie Mbabazi Mugabo decided to head back to Bugesera District to work with authorities and support those in need. Change Life Initiative provided roofing materials and helped to renovate the homes of two widows in Bugesera District, Rilima Sector who had lived in old and dilapidated homes for a long time.

“Safe and decent homes are necessary to remain healthy and protected. I believe that living in a decent and safe home is a minimum need for every human being as we know that a secured and safe home is the foundation for a quality life. That is why we joined hands with Rilima sector officials to help renovate these homes” says Jackie Mbabazi the founder of Change Life Initiative

The organisation also provided health insurance for 119 most vulnerable women and children who live in the same area. During this event to hand over the health insurance and other food stuffs, the Executive Secretary of Rilima Sector Ephraim Sebarundi applauded this support.

“We appreciate this support you have given to our people. Health care is very important because healthy people are able to work and take care of their families. It is very considerate of you in the diaspora who think about your brothers and sisters who are in need back home and you offer support.” Executive Secretary Ephraim Sebarundi said.

“In a world with many challenges, it is easy to feel like our small actions wont make a big difference but in reality even the tiniest gestures like these we did can add up to something powerful. Let us all join hands to support our people and lift them out of dire poverty” Jackie noted.

Silivia Mukamponga ,whose home was renovated was all smiles when talking to reporters. “I am very happy because you have helped me to renovate my house. I am a widow, I live with my daughter and grandchild. Our house has had a leaking roof for a long time. At night when it rains I do not sleep.I spend the night worried that my house will fall on me. But I thank God for bringing good people like you to help me”
