Rwanda Legacy of Hope brought medical specialists from the United Kingdom who performed surgeries on patients and trained medical students in Rwanda

“Indeed, a healthy spirit dwells in a healthy body.” This means that both physical and spiritual well-being must be cared for, so that people may live with peace, strength, and hope.

Rwanda Legacy of Hope works to leave behind a legacy of hope by building a Rwanda with a brighter future through healthcare, education, social development, and spiritual growth.

For over 15 years, Rwanda Legacy of Hope has become a pillar of charitable initiatives, particularly in healthcare, bringing in doctors every year to provide medical treatment during two seasons.

In 2025, the organization launched a special program for surgeries addressing spinal disorders, brain conditions, infertility, and ear, nose, and throat diseases. Around 300 patients are expected to undergo surgery in this phase, with an estimated cost of 2.7 billion Rwandan Francs.

This year’s program is taking place in five hospitals: Kigali University Teaching Hospital (CHUK), Rwamagana Hospital, Gahini Hospital, Kibagabaga Hospital, and Butare University Teaching Hospital (CHUB). The one-week campaign will focus on carefully selected patients.

Founded by All Nations Ministries, the organization has been carrying out this mission for 15 years. For this program, they brought 24 medical specialists from 12 different countries.

Pastor Ntavuka Osee, the founder and Executive Director, expressed his joy at the impact, especially for patients who had no other access to treatment.

He said:

“The greatest joy is seeing someone who had no hope of treatment finally healed. We have met patients who had been unable to speak for 17 years, but after surgery, they can now speak again.”

Pastor Osee, who resides in the United Kingdom, shared that the idea came when he realized that his church had several medical specialists. He envisioned how they could contribute to his country. He began with just two doctors, but today, the organization includes 198 medical professionals.

This year’s program has expanded to include spinal surgeries, which are also performed in 14 hospitals across Rwanda for patients covered under Mutuelle de Santé. The initiative also supports the national 4×4 program, which aims to improve the doctor-to-patient ratio so that at least four doctors are available for every 1,000 patients.

Dr. Muneza Severien, a neurosurgeon, told IGIHE that working with these visiting doctors is a valuable learning opportunity:

“One of the purposes of their mission is to help us reduce the number of patients waiting for treatment and to share knowledge we don’t yet have. When they perform surgeries, we also learn directly from their expertise.”

Ivan Ndahiro, a 23-year-old patient who suffered paralysis in his lower body, expressed gratitude after undergoing spinal surgery:

“My lower body had completely stopped working due to paralysis. After a scan, I was told that I had a tumor pressing on my spine and blocking blood circulation. They operated on me, and now I’ve started regaining feeling in my lower body.”

By the end of this week, Rwanda Legacy of Hope will donate medical equipment and supplies worth 193 million Rwandan Francs to local hospitals.

Since its inception in 2012, over 450 doctors have been trained in different surgical procedures through this program, and by the end of this phase, more than 8,500 patients will have received life-changing surgeries.

As the Bible teaches, “A true church is one that cares for orphans, widows, and the sick.” Rwanda Legacy of Hope embodies this principle by prioritizing compassion and assistance for the vulnerable—especially orphans, widows, and the sick—living out the saying: “Actions speak louder than words.”

Itorero ryiza ni iryita ku mfubyi, abapfakazi n’abarwayi” Gushyira imbere ibikorwa by’impuhwe no gufasha abababaye, by’umwihariko imfubyi, abapfakazi n’abandi bose bafite intege nke mu muryango aribyo umuryango wa Gikirisitu wa Rwanda Legacy of Hope ushyira imbere mu kugendera muri iyi ntego no gushimangira imvugo yitwa ngo “Kora ndebe iruta cyane vuga numve “.

Pastor Osee Ntavuka, The founder and leader of Rwanda Legacy of Hope, expresses his joy over the positive results being achieved.

Dr. Alexander Oboh is one of the specialists performing surgeries on women facing infertility problems.

It is expected that during this period, more than 300 patients will receive treatment.

Ndahiro Ivan, who underwent spinal surgery, expresses his gratitude to those who brought this medical service closer to them.

In this phase, advanced medical technology is being used to perform surgeries on women with infertility issues.
